Some Typical applications include:Sulphur Hexafluoride Used in Circuit Breakers Sulphur hexafluoride is used as an insulating gas in circuit breakers. Excess moisture in SF6 gas causes arcing, which can trip the circuit breaker and cut off power to the distribution network. Moisture in Natural Gas Liquid Benzene Feed Stock Vacuum-Evacuation and Gas Refill in Oil Filled Transformers Instrument Air Breathing Air Hydrogen Annealing Ovens Ethylene Gas Stream for High-Density Polyethylene Production High moisture content in the Ethylene feed gas reduces the catalyst activity, thereby decreasing the overall yield of the polyethylene reactors.Hydrogen Cooled Electric Generators Hydrogen is used to cool large stationary generators because of its high heat capacity and low viscosity. The hydrogen must be kept dry in order to maintain both its heat capacity and viscosity properties. Ambient moisture is considered a contaminant which will reduce the heat capacity and increase the viscosity of the cooling hydrogen. Injection Moulding 1. The key to the operation of Alpha Moisture Systems'' Portable Analysers is the unique Desiccant Dry-Down Chamber. By keeping the sensor dry between tests, the special assembly of the head ensures that the instrument is always ready for immediate use. The head assembly consists of two chambers which have a telescopic action. When the head assembly is in the ''closed'' or ''Dry-Down'' position, the sensor is completely surrounded by desiccant, which absorbs the remaining water moisture from the sensor and hence it is dry and ready for use. The small space at the bottom of the test chamber enables the sample pipe to be purged before the test commences without wetting the sensor. By placing a finger over the outlet of the head, the sample pressure is able to open the test chamber automatically, exposing the sensor to the gas being tested and enabling accurate reading of moisture content in the sample gas. After each test the head assembly is closed by depressing the inner section so that the sensor will again be dried by the desiccant, leaving the sensor ready for use time and time again. The desiccant is kept in the inner chamber and is not exposed to ambient room air or the sample gas, therefore there is no need for frequent regeneration or replacement of the desiccant. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Model DS1200 from Alpha Moisture Systems is a single channel on-line hygrometer designed to measure dewpoint in process gases and dry compressed air. The panel mounted ? DIN dewpoint meter, providing panel protection to IP65 (NEMA4X), combines with the Model AMT range of ultra high capacitance sensors for accurate trace moisture measurement. Combination of advanced digital technology of the display electronics and the sensor, makes this the system of choice for a wide range of applications where precise indication, control and monitoring is critical. Model DS1200-AMT system can be factory configured to read in °C dewpoint, °F dewpoint, ppm(v), ppb(v), g/m³ or lbs/MMSCF. The measured value is displayed on a large 4 digit, 13.8mm high, fourteen segment LED display. The instrument offers two fully programmable alarm relays, which can be independently set across the full operating range of the sensor. An optically isolated analogue signal, linear with the measured unit, is also available to interface with any external device. Model DS1200-AMT can be supplied with any one of a range of sensors, which have all been specially manufactured to provide long term stability, so ensuring a long and trouble free service life. The long lasting sensing element offers excellent sensitivity, repeatability and response speed - especially on dry down. Integrated electronics in each sensor allows calibration data to be stored within its memory, making sensors completely field interchangeable. Each sensor is calibrated to provide overall system accuracy of better than ±2°C dewpoint and supplied with a certificate traceable to international humidity standards. Model DS1200-AMT also incorporates the invaluable “AUTOCAL” feature for easy field verification of the system response, without recourse to any additional equipment. Accidental or unauthorised operation is prevented by a simple initiation routine. The system allows the display console to be sited in excess of 1000m from the sensor, connected by a simple twisted pair cable.
